NBA Legend and Business Leader Magic Johnson Shares Empowerment Message as Part of Black History Month
Earvin “Magic” Johnson spoke to 75 Inner City Youth from Breakthrough Ministries, Allstate and SodexoMagic Employees. Vivian Smith-Del Toro gave the children a learning exercise. All 75 children between the ages of 8-12 years of age had to write a resume and interview with the Chicago Public School Teachers to qualify for the tour. Over 8,000 Allstaters participated virtually and 2,000 were in person. Over 300 African American and Latino Allstaters personally welcomed the children throughout their day visit to the Allstate Headquarters.

Seventy-five Breakthrough youth members from Chicago’s East Garfield Park neighborhood will hear Magic Johnson’s personal story. Participating students were selected based on personal and academic achievements and come from Chicago Public Schools’ Jacob Beidler Elementary, Westinghouse College Prep, and Chicago West Side Christian School.
